Mark King and Status Graphite Collaboration



Twelve months ago, after a great deal of painstaking development, a totally new Status Bass was introduced to the world. The focus was on developing an instrument that Mark King had always wanted, but never found.

Mark has used Status Graphite basses since the early 80's and had been seen playing various models : Series 2000, Series-2, Empathy etc...
Now it was time for a new direction and Status have worked closely with Mark to develop an instrument that can truly express his incredibly dynamic playing style.

There are two new developments in the KingBass range :

The 'Princess' KingBass

This is a very limited edition version of the KingBass which features a custom air-brushed likeness of the artwork featured on the original Level 42 album covers.
Mark has one bass and we just completed two more which are now available.

The Princess specifications are :
- Four string through-neck with 32" medium scale and Bendwell
- Custom 16.5mm string spacing at the bridge (As used by Mark King)
- Fretted phenolic fingerboard with Green front and side LED's
- Gold hardware
- Two Status custom made pickups
- Three-band E.Q. with treble and bass plus variable midrange
- 18 volt battery supply for active E.Q.
- Separate 2 x 9 volt battery supply for LED's
- Fingerboard radius - 410mm (16")
- Includes Status Lite-flite hard case

The KingBass 5 Strings

Based on the original four-string model, this features an 18mm bridge spacing as standard.
The neck width is the same as our other headed and headless 5-string models but is available with either a regular 34" scale 24 fret fingerboard or the custom option of a 32" medium scale fingerboard with BendWell.
The BendWell feature is only available on the through-neck model and allows the strings to be pushed down behind the top-nut for vibrato and string bending effects. The headless design allows the bass to balance perfectly as either 4 or 5 string.

The 5-string specifications are :
- Five string graphite bolt-on or through-neck
- Regular 34" or medium 32" scale with BendWell
- Fretted phenolic fingerboard
- Black hardware on bolt-on, gold hardware on through-neck
- Two Status, hand-wound pickups
- Three-band E.Q. with treble and bass plus variable midrange
- 18 volt battery supply for active E.Q.
- Separate battery supply for LED's
- Includes Status Lite-flite hard case
- Fingerboard radius - 410mm (16")
- Plain or lined fretless fingerboards
