When you get a new piece of Musical Gear... Be it hardware, software, rack-mount, stomp box, and so on... Put away the instructions aside from the set-up and throw the troubleshoot guide into the trash... Accidents and ignorance creates beautiful mistakes... (Jaco Pastorius : 1951 - 1987)

New ToTo DVD !!!

(Hu hu hu ... terharu saya ...*sesenggukan* ...)

Recently Toto signed a deal with Eagle Rock Productions (UK) to film, produce and distribute a live concert DVD with footage material during Toto's 25th anniversary tour Through the looking glass. Toto decided to film the concert in the Heineken Music Hall on February 17th 2003 in Amsterdam, Holland. The intention is to make a 1h 43m DVD with a 1h 30m live registration of the show in Amsterdam, completed with different footage material.

After analysing and judging the recordings Steve Lukather and Simon Phillips will compile and edit the audio part of the live show. After that Eagle Rock Productions will edit the video part and the footage, in co-operation with the band. If the whole project works out fine, the DVD will be realeased fall 2003.

The shooting started on February 17th at 12.00 hours in Amsterdam, with behind the scenes stuff, an early soundcheck and a pre-concert. During the concert registration in the evening Eagle RP used 16 cameras in the Heineken Music Hall to film the show and the 6000 people in the audience.

During the concert in Zwolle on February 15th the band tried out some experiments in the arrangements of a couple of songs and the solo sets of Lukather (a Pinball wizard reference in the middle of his set), Paich and Phillips (a drum pattern at the frontside of his bass drums). Lukather also changed or extended some of his guitar solos in songs like Rosanna, White sister, Hold the line and Bodhisattva.

Most of the changes were maintained in Amsterdam. Although all the guys in the band prepared themselves with the attitude to play a regular concert, it was clear from the very first minute that they all wanted to give the best possible extras. And they did, like the audience did their utmost to create a great atmosphere. Together the band and the audience made the best possible party for a live show on DVD !

Meanwhile, They're also re-released their Live Videos on a DVD with a lot of new footage as a bonus !!!

Toto - Greatest hits live... and more

Toto - Greatest hits live... and more

The Greatest hits live... and more DVD is devided in three parts.

Part one is a compilation of the Planet Earth Tour show (promotion of Past to Present) at Le Zenith in Paris in October 1990. The registration starts with the arrival of Toto at the Paris airport and shows some nice inside film shots. The performance and the sound are great. Highlight for the Lukather fans is Luke's solo cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic Little wing. This cover appeared on the Japanese release of the album Kingdom of desire (1992) as a bonus track.

Part two is a kind of Tambu documentary with studio shots and shots from the Tambu tour in 1995.

Part three is an interview from Jan Douwe Kroeske with Steve Lukather and Jeff Porcaro in 1988 (during the The seventh one tour) in Ahoy Rotterdam. The interview is mixed up with videoclips of Hold the line, Africa, Rosanna and Stop loving you. During the second half of the interview David Paich, Mike Porcaro and Joseph Williams are joining Steve and Jeff and together they sing (and play) an acoustic version of Rosanna.

The DVD contains almost the same booklet as the 3CD-box Greatest hits... and more. The concert was released before on video as Toto live.
